Workshop Objectives

This workshop will provide  an opportunity to:

 

  • Hear Dr Mitchell’s research findings
  • Explore Personal and Professional Outcome Frameworks
  • Consider how we might begin to rethink what we understand outcomes are and how we can meaningfully capture and measure outcomes in our work
  • Action plan a way forward

Participants

This workshop, facilitated by Dr Mary Mitchell from The University of Edinburgh, will provide an opportunity to critically think about how we understand and measure outcomes in Family Group Conferencing.

This workshop is jointly hosted by FGC Northern Ireland and Queens University and will be of interest to senior managers; practitioners and academics.

Facilitator

Mary Mitchell has over thirty years professional experience in social work and community work, with a particular emphasis on work with children, young people and families. Mary has worked extensively in the voluntary, non-government and government sectors in both Australia and Scotland. She has also taught social work, community education and childhood practice at a number of academic institutions.

Mary is currently a Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Edinburgh. Mary’s PhD ‘Reimagining Family Group Conferencing (FGC) ‘Outcomes’’ focused on investigating the contribution FGC makes towards outcomes for looked after children at risk of being accommodated, and their families
